The Fontano family opened a corner grocery in Little Italy in 1929, stocking imported Italian goods for the neighborhood. In 1960 it became Fontano’s Subs — and our Polk Street shop has been stacking Italian meats and cheeses on crusty bread ever since.

No frills, just a sandwich counter, fresh bread every day and subs so big you might save half for later.
